7 Nights from Le Pecq/Paris to Rouen, Caudebec-en-Caux, Les Andelys and Vernon to Mantes-la-Jolie.
Day 1: Le Pecq/Paris
Many places have famous sons and daughters, but the fact that the birthplace of the Sun King – Louis XlV – is very close to Le Peqc makes this charming town a popular destination for visitors.
Day 2: Le Pecq/Paris
Many places have famous sons and daughters, but the fact that the birthplace of the Sun King – Louis XlV – is very close to Le Peqc makes this charming town a popular destination for visitors.
Day 3: Rouen
You quickly lose track of time in Normandy’s capital. But you’re reminded of it again by the 600-year-old ‘Big Clock’. This is one of the world’s oldest astronomical clocks and has just one hand – for the hour.
Day 4: Rouen
You quickly lose track of time in Normandy’s capital. But you’re reminded of it again by the 600-year-old ‘Big Clock’. This is one of the world’s oldest astronomical clocks and has just one hand – for the hour.
Day 5: Caudebec-en-Caux
The small town is situated in one of the greenest regions of France. Here, you will also find flower-filled gardens that invite you to linger. In the town centre, historic buildings such as the church of Notre Dame or the Templar House reflect the history of Caudebec.
Day 6: Les Andelys
The pleasant, tranquil little town of Les Andelys occupies an idyllic spot surrounded by nature on the bank of the Seine. It is known for its castle, Château Gaillard. Although it is nothing more than a vast ruin nowadays, it’s easy to imagine Richard the Lionheart keeping watch here for the advance of the enemy – the French – through the Seine valley.
Day 7: Vernon
Today will probably be one of the highlights of your Seine cruise: you’ll have the opportunity to visit Claude Monet’s house and garden in Giverny. It is a magnet for art and culture lovers and those of a romantic inclination – and rightly so. The lush garden looks like a meadow of flowers straight out of an impressionist painting. The highlight is the enchanting lily pond, the subject of one of the world’s most valuable paintings. And you’ll be able to admire it up close – what a view!
Day 7: Mantes-la-Jolie
This is a place where history was made. Henry IV of France wooed his mistress Gabrielle d’Estrées here, and from then on Mantes became Mantes-la-Jolie – ‘Mantes the beautiful’. Located just 50 kilometres from Paris, the city lies directly on the bank of the Seine. Now you’ll have the opportunity to discover it for yourself during your Seine river cruise.
Day 8: Mantes-la-Jolie
This is a place where history was made. Henry IV of France wooed his mistress Gabrielle d’Estrées here, and from then on Mantes became Mantes-la-Jolie – ‘Mantes the beautiful’. Located just 50 kilometres from Paris, the city lies directly on the bank of the Seine. Now you’ll have the opportunity to discover it for yourself during your Seine river cruise. |
